Stephanie Sheh is an American voice actress, who is known for dubbing Sailor Moon and other iconic characters in cartoons and anime media. She is the voice actor of Vega and Piper in the Star Darlings animated series.
Biography[]
Sheh was raised in Northern California after being born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The majority of her ancestors still reside in Taiwan, where she spent a large portion of her childhood and where they speak Taiwanese Hokkien and Mandarin Chinese.
When Sheh was a freshman at Cupertino, California's Monta Vista High School, she participated in a school play that sparked her interest in acting. She participated in anime groups at the University of California, Los Angeles. She began working as a producer after earning her degree from UCLA in 1999 and continued to pursue her performing career. The Second City Training Center, East West Players, Susan Blu Voiceover Workshop, and UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television are where she received her acting, voice acting, and improvisation training and education. Sheh has also produced radio commercials for the US Cellular Corporation.
Sheh made her voice acting debut as Silky in I'm Gonna Be An Angel as Jennifer Sekiguchi! in 2001. She was employed at Synch-Point at the time, where she was responsible for creating the English dub for I'm Gonna Be An Angel. along with portraying Silky. When she hired Marc Handler to ADR direct and write for FLCL, in which she portrayed one of the main characters, Mamimi, she was working with Synch-Point.
Later, she would score prominent voiceover parts as Eureka in Eureka Seven and Orihime Inoue in Bleach. She also provided the voice for Hinata Hyuga, a supporting character who played an important part in the plot of the popular television series Naruto. With varying degrees of success, the three shows have broadcast on Cartoon Network. She calls Hinata's self-esteem concerns quite relatable.
