Scarlet’s Star Zap

As Star Darlings Wikia expands, more and more edits will be done to existing pages. But as brand new pages are created, it brings the questions of what exactly warrants it’s own page. Below are guidelines for the notability of a page’s subject. Keep in mind that these are not concrete rules, there can always be exceptions.

General Guidelines

  1. Before any page is made by itself (to clarify, a page made without a red link), it should be asked why it’s needed for the Star Darlings Wikia. For starters, which pages should it link to and why isn't the subject fine put on an already existing page? The creator should also to at least take care of some links to the new page.
  2. There are three methods information and pages can be organized. All information can be put on a singular page, the information can be spread out over a main page and its subpages, and the information can be divided among multiple unconnected pages. Think about which method would be the best for new information.
  3. Page creation, much like regular edits, must be done for the sake of the Star Darlings Wikia. Pages don’t belong to any one person. In the same vein, users should refrain from making brand new pages from scratch. Knowing what is necessary for a page comes from experience and practice, so contributions should start with small edits.

Specific Guidelines

People

In general, anyone who is directly involved with Star Darlings warrants a page. For example, Marieve Herington, the voice actress of Libby and Gemma deserves a page. But Dove Cameron, an actress for Descendants that while owned by Disney as well, has nothing to do with Star Darlings and thus doesn’t deserve a page.

Localization doesn’t effect who does and doesn’t deserve a page. The Russian voice actress of Cassie deserves a page just as much as the American one.

Companies

The guidelines for people also apply to companies.

Characters

In general, any character that is named regardless of the canonical source of the name is notable. However that in of itself doesn’t automatically warrant making them a page.

If a named character or group of characters appears regularly and prominently in whatever source they were introduced, such as the animated series or books, then they are worthy of a page. This is why Ophelia, even though having most of her significance in the books has a page dedicated to her, while Ganymede, who only had one meaningful appearance in a single episode and nowhere else is regulated to the List of Minor Characters page. Speaking of that page, some characters while having names simply don’t have enough information about them to justify giving them a page. Such characters are considered minor characters, and like Ganymede should be listed on this page. Any pages made for minor characters are counted as unneeded, unnecessary, and random, and will get deleted sooner or later.

Characters that are part of the staff at Starling Academy are a unique case. As they are characters primarily associated with a major setting of the story, unless there is next to nothing known or shown about them they have the right to have their own page.

A rule of thumb for whether or not a character counts as a minor character is below. If they fit at least one of these criteria, they belong on List of Minor Characters.

  1. They’ve only been mentioned a few amount of times.
  2. There’s only a few sentences to a paragraph worth of information on them.
  3. They have next to no role in the overall story.
  4. They have no artwork, are rarely mentioned outside the medium they were introduced in (ex. a character in the books you’d only know about if you read the books) and/or barely been in any promotional materials. This includes official descriptions like those on the website.

Objects and Locations

The above rule of thumb can also be applied to items and any locations. For locations, to be mentioned on any page at all they must have been shown in some form of Canon. For items, such as those that are often described in a glossary, unless they have much significance and/or are commonly shown, they should be placed on List of Objects.

Much like minor characters, pages made for items that barely have any information on them are considered unneeded, unnecessary, and random are very likely to be deleted. Please do not create pages for terms that not only don’t have much information on them, but are also better suited for being described in an already existing page.

For example, don’t make a food mentioned offhandedly in the books it’s own page when it could be listed in Starlicious Treats, or make a page for the siblings of Leona when they could be described on her own page.
