The Manual of Style (MoS) of the Star Darlings Wikia serves as a guide for organizing and formatting articles.

Article do's and don'ts[]

Do[]

  • Write paragraphs
  • Make use of punctuation
  • Add links
  • Add sources and references
  • Add categories as needed
  • Fix grammar
  • Use templates

Don't[]

  • Forget capitalization
  • Make lists of attributes
  • Leave articles blank
  • Vandalize articles
  • Add personality and appearance in infoboxes
  • Add information that is not Canon

Titles for articles[]

Please do not name articles with speculative titles, nicknames, or otherwise alternate names and only use the official name for a subject. For example, Usually titles must be in singular form instead of plural, but if the article is a list it's acceptable. Definite articles and indefinite articles (the, a/an) should be avoided unless it is part of the official name. Whenever starting an article, be sure to at least write a brief description of the topic and bold the first appearance of it's name.

Language[]

Mainly for consistency, and because the subject of this wiki is American, punctuation, grammar, and spelling should conform to American English standards. This is only applied to articles, not user or talk pages. When editing editors are encouraged to write at these standards, and feel free to change words to have proper U.S spelling.

What should be on an article?[]

Characters[]

See Notability for who and who shouldn't have a page.

Every page of a character should have the following-

  • An infobox with relevant information about the character.
  • A quote said by them, or about them.
  • An introduction with a small description of them.
  • In order, Story (with a subsection named History) Appearance, Personality, and Background sections to describe them in more detail.
    • If there is too little information on a character to write a section, that section can be omitted.
    • Appearance should start with their physical appearance, style of dress, and their Wishling disguise if any. Use terms like "light-skinned," "fair-skinned," "dark-skinned," and similar for skin tone. For the body, terms such as "thin," "chubby," "skinny," "curvy," "fat," "tall," "short," are acceptable. Please refrain from using words like "obese". "overweight," etc.
  • If the character has any, add a powers and abilites section.
  • If the character has one, add a gallery. If there is enough images on them to require a subpage, do so.
  • Next add a section for Trivia.
  • If any are used, add one for references.

Episodes[]

An episode page should have-

  • An infobox with the Episode template.
  • A sentence or paragraph that includes the title, episode number, and premiere date.
  • A Synopsis section that gives a very short summary of the episode. These should be directly from official releases of the episodes.
  • A Plot section that fully recaps the episode in more detail.
  • The Cast, listing all characters and their respective voice actors. This includes the following subsections-
    • Non-speaking cameo for characters that are seen but have no speaking role and only as a cameo in the background.
    • Mentioned for characters that are only mentioned and do not appear.
    • Pictured for characters that only appear in the episode as a picture or portrait.
  • A subpage for a transcript.
  • A gallery section.
  • A references section if any used.

Groups, Organizations, Species[]

Groups and Organizations[]

  • Infobox with the Group template.

Notes[]

  • As the Editing Policies state, please do not copy directly from the books, Star Darlings Website, or any other source without presenting it as an official description or quotation. Doing so counts as plagarism.
  • Always write in present tense when it comes to in-universe articles and use a neutral PoV for articles as a whole.
  • Bold the first occurence of an article's name as well as it's nicknames or alternative ones.
  • For formatting dates-
    • MMMM D, YYYY (ex. October 1, 2001) is acceptable everywhere. So is October 1st, 2001.
    • D MMM YYYY, MMM D, YYYY, and YYYY-MM-DD (ex. 1 Oct 2001, Oct 1, 2001, and 2001-10-01) are only acceptable in references, tables, lists, or wherever simplicity is needed.
  • Refrain from linking to the same thing excessively on a page.
  • If there isn't enough information on the topic to fill out a certain section, that section can be ommited.
  • In general, every page should have a gallery and trivia if possible.
