Plot[]
Main article: History from the Books, Scarlet/Wish Mission
The story begins with Scarlet sitting next to her window in her new dorm room. She overhears Cassie and Sage talking about Leona’s failed mission and Vega hearing from Scarlet. Then her new roommate comes in, disguised as her grandmother and tries to fool Scarlet. Scarlet isn't tricked and her roommate, Mira takes off her costume. Suddenly, Scarlet gets a text from Vega, telling her she's already at the Maze, their meeting place.
When Scarlet gets to the maze, she and Vega start talking. Vega asks where Scarlet's been and asks if Scarlet wants to hear about her mission, and begins going on and on, until Scarlet chastises her for not caring that Scarlet got kicked out and couldn't go on one herself. Then Vega apologizes and asks if she invited her to the maze to rejoin the band. Then Scarlet gets angry and says she doesn't want to talk about that either. Vega asks what she wants to talk about. Scarlet remarks that it is not right that Ophelia replaced her. Vega reluctantly agrees stating that she has been wondering about her herself. She states that Ophelia was so far behind. Which made sense at the beginning but she still wasn't catching up. Vega even states that Ophelia can't manipulate a single watt of energy.
Trivia[]
- Originally, as indicated below, Scarlet's mission was to help a disabled girl feel more independent instead of helping a girl overcome her fear of butterflies.
- The book's original summary was:
Scarlet is overly intense and can be manipulative and vengeful. She needs to relax, learn how to encourage others instead of manipulating them, while staying true to her passionate, strong-willed personality.
Star Day is approaching, an annual school event where classes are cancelled and there is a big campus party with games, picnics, and music. This year there is going to be a Battle of the Bands competition.
Scarlet's mission: Scarlet is going to help a disabled girl who wishes that she could feel independent. Scarlet wants to return quickly with the energy and tries to manipulate the girl into feeling good about herself instead of actually helping her realize her strengths. A few Star Darlings arrive to help Scarlet focus on the situation at hand and let the wish happen naturally which will result in much more positive energy.
