Piper’s Wish Mission is the seventh of twelve wish missions to take place in the Star Darlings book series. Piper's mission takes place in the seventh book Piper's Perfect Dream.
Story[]
Preparation[]
The following day, after a restful night's sleep, Piper learned about the seventh identified wish. She arrived first at Lady Stella's office. The Star Darlings were led by the Headmistress to the Wish Cavern, where a revolving wishing orb eventually stopped in front of Piper.
Journey[]
The following day, Piper was excused from class and spent some time selecting the ideal outfit in the Wishworld Outfit Selector before embarking on a leisurely hovercraft ride to the lake. She was given a customised backpack with a key ring from Lady Cordial at the Wishworld Surveillance Deck after Lady Stella gave the go-ahead. Then, while still connected to the shooting star, it shot through space.
Mission[]
Searching for the wisher[]
Piper landed in the middle of a newly constructed playground with wooden barriers all around. Her unusual ability was then revealed when she realized that her vision could pass through barriers and she could see what was outside. She slipped outside before anyone could enquire as to what Piper was doing there. Despite double-checking the directions on her Star-zap, she discovered that her wisher was quite a distance away.
She was headed to Big Rosie's Diner. She explored the restaurant before deciding to wait for her wisher outside. She eventually felt a tingling in her wrist, noted that her bracelets were flashing, and realized Olivia was her wisher.
Guessing Olivia's wish[]
Piper chose to go inside after the girl and persuaded Olivia's mother, Alice, that she would assist her. After a brief exchange, Piper requested Olivia to demonstrate what to do.
Piper was so engrossed in her first task that she forgot about Olivia. Thankfully, she soon noticed her nodding off at the table. She was informed by the girl that she had recently been severely exhausted. She refused Piper's offer to confide in her nightmares. After supper, Olivia made Piper a delightful drink called Chocolate Egg Cream after Piper suggested they eat something tasty to cheer them up.
Piper convinced Olivia's mother to let her stay the night because it was late and she did not want to leave her wisher. Before turning in for the night, Piper convinced Olivia to tell her about her average day, but the interruptions concerning her nightmares kept the child from making more in-depth declarations. Olivia disputed Piper's claim that her position at the diner was problematic. Finally, Piper decided to teach her some relaxation methods so that they could both go rest more quickly. Later, Piper was awakened from sleep by Olivia's laboured breathing, and she was having another nightmare.
Piper was left working in the restaurant the following day, still believing that the diner must be the subject of the wish. She was even more convinced after learning that the diner owners were concerned about the business from another server. In the evening, Olivia asked her to demonstrate a method of relaxation once more. Additionally, Piper advised her to confide in someone she trusted about what was hurting her. They then began discussing dreams, and just as Olivia was prepared to admit something, Piper again interrupted her.
Realizing her mistake[]
When they arrived at the diner the following day, they were shocked to see a lengthy queue of customers waiting outside. It turns out that the Chocolate Egg Cream that was made for the customers the previous day played a part in it. The absence of wish energy following the wish's fulfilment startled Piper. The mission was almost complete when she realised she had squandered the time on a bad dream. When the girl's companions arrived at the diner, Piper speculated that the wish might be connected to them and convinced Alice to extend an invitation to let them spend the night at their house. She then heard Astra come to her aid.
The slumber party and granting the wish[]
Astra informed Piper that things were becoming worse and the energy was leaving Starland at an even faster rate. Alice was persuaded to invite Astra to the sleepover after Piper described the circumstances to her.
The girls painted their nails and played a variety of activities at the sleepover, with Piper and Astra switching out their polish. Then Piper explained that they would unwind by visualizing the perfect location. The topic of nightmares and their advantages was then brought up.
Olivia was the next to tell them about her nightmare after Piper had already shared one of her own. She claimed that it began two weeks ago, following the viewing of a performance by the band Another World. Her friends reported that they were exhausted and had a history test the following day for which they had not studied. Therefore, they had created cheat sheets the day before, and they received all As.
Olivia said she would like to confess the truth after Piper saw her test paper tucked away in her desk. In Piper's opinion, telling her mother about it would be beneficial. When her friends admitted to having regrets as well, she decided to go confess to her mother, making her wish come true. All four of them appeared rested the following day. After saying goodbye to her wisher, Piper and Astra went back to Starland.
Aftermath[]
Piper received a message from Astra telling her to visit Lady Stella's office after landing back at the Academy. She immediately received a wish orb from Lady Stella, which transformed into a Sleepibelle, her wish blossom. Dreamalite, Piper's power crystal, was located inside the blossom and was hers to keep.
