"I believe that you twelve are the Star-Charmed Starlings which the ancient oracle foretold."
― Lady Stella talking to the Star Darlings Star Charmed
Lady Stella Albright is the deuteragonist in the Star Darlings animated and book series. She first appears in the episode Star Charmed and is voiced by Jennifer Hale. She is responsible for forming the Star Darlings to help save Starland's energy crisis.
Story[]
History[]
Lady Stella Albright, the headmistress of Starling Academy and a school alumna, radiates wisdom and authority. She's respected on campus and throughout all of Starland as a powerful Wish-Granter. Stella is a fair and kind-hearted woman but can be stern when the situation requires it. She's also known for her creative problem solving.
Lady Stella is always looking for a solution, which is why she recruited the Star Darlings entirely in secret after coming across the ancient oracle in a long-forgotten book. She believes the twelve girls can fulfill the prophecy by sneaking off to Wishworld and granting the wishes of young Wishlings. Though this has never been tried before, Lady Stella is just bold enough to attempt it. She also discovered how Starlings could make more Wishlings make good wishes by not only focusing on the wisher, which resulted in her joining the Wish-Tank.
Appearance[]
Lady Stella was described in the books as having olive-colored skin and a midnight blue cloak with stars that spun on her head like a crown.
In the series, she has white hair with pink highlights, a turtle neck corset with a pink gem attached to the top, a long white gown and a glowing white cloak.
Personality[]
Lady Stella is a kind, but stern woman. She moves slow, calm and is rarely in a hurry. She had a perfect explanation for Scarlet's kick-out and is a understanding headmistress. She is honest and kind and is characterized by wisdom and authority. Lady Stella is always looking for the best solution to a situation. She also has the courage to try new things.
Powers and Abilities[]
Starling Physiology[]
Being a Starling, Lady Stella possesses all of the natural traits that the species has.
- Wish Energy Manipulation - Lady Stella harnesses positive wish energy for most of her abilities.
- Energy Blasts - As displayed in The Power of Twelve, wish energy can be used to fire streams, bursts, orbs, and waves of offensive power against opponents.
- Force Fields - Demonstrated in the above special, Starlings can conjure shields as defense.
- Extended Lifespan - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it’s confirmed that Starlings can live for thousands of years, as Mira’s grandmother is over thousands of years old. Before that, in Leona's Unlucky Mission it was hinted that a few decades wasn’t too long in comparison to Wishling lifespans. However, they do not have eternal youth, as Professor Elara Ursa is stated to be among one of the oldest wish granters and has clearly aged in a similar manner to a wishling elder.
- Disease Immunity - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it states that the wish energy surrounding Starlings keeps them from contracting illnesses.
- Superhuman Knowledge - In Leona's Unlucky Mission, Starlings are shown to be nigh-perfect at mathematics from birth. Astra's Mixed-Up Mission also implies that Starlings are the same way towards towards literature and similar subjects such as language and grammar.
Trivia[]
- While studying at the Starling Academy, Stella used a glowing pink ball dangling from a delicate gold chain as her wish pendant during Practice Wish Orb Mastery class.
- Lady Stella was originally named Cassiopeia Patricia Albright. This was most likely changed to avoid confusion with Cassie, a member of the Star Darlings.
- Cassiopeia is the name of a constellation, which in turn is named after Cassiopeia in Greek mythology from the myth of Andromeda.
