Lady Astrid was the headmistress of Starling Academy at the time Lady Stella, Indirra, and Lady Rancora attended. After Cora unleashed and was exposed to Negative Wish Energy, Astrid refused her readmittance because of what she'd done and because doing so would undermine the prophecy. Stella remembered her as wise and kind, and after she started her afterglow, Astrid appointed Stella the new headmistress of the academy in her will.
