"Listen to your feelings. Let your inner light sparkle."

― Cassie's Mirror Mantra Cassie Comes Through

Cassie is one of the twelve main characters in the Star Darlings animated and book series. She is the main point of view for the sixth Star Darlings book Cassie Comes Through. She first appears in the episode Star Charmed and is voiced by Kate Micucci (episodes 1-12) and Libe Barer (The Power of Twelve). Cassie's roommate at Starling Academy is Sage and her first wisher on Wishworld is Lila.

Story[]

History[]

After losing her parents when she was six, Cassie was looked after by her uncle, Andreas - a best-selling author who sells mooniums of holo-books a year! In her uncle's holo-book series, Cassie is a recurring character as a brilliant young detective who often assists the main character on cases.

Because her uncle had to travel Starland a lot for business (extensively on book tours), Cassie was usually left alone. However, she did often accompany him on his trips. If she didn't feel like going, she stayed at home (in a large mansion) with their housekeeper, Marta, a sweet older woman who was as close to Cassie as if she were her grandmother. Because Cassie was often left to fend for herself, she found comfort in charting constellations and reading books. To this day, she reads constantly.

Cassie's best friend is a glowfur named Bitty, which belonged to her mother. Indeed, the academy doesn't allow pets in the dorm, but Cassie marches to the signal of her pulsar. While she does find great joy with her friend, Cassie often wishes to have a real friend by her side.

Appearance[]

Cassie is a baby-faced girl with thick black lashes and soft rosy eyes. Akin to all Starlings, she bears slightly sparkly skin with a pale complexion. Her long glimmering pinkish-white hair is up in perky little pigtail buns, fastened into place with star pins. She wears a light pink buttoned shirt with small, sheer ruffled sleeves attached to a four-layered ruffled skirt and a pair of grey sneakers. Until her first day at Starling Academy, she wore big round glasses. Once Lady Stella gave each girl her Wish Pendant, Cassie wore a pair of very cool-looking star-shaped glasses, which she seemed delighted with, despite herself.

On Wishworld, Cassie's pale pink hair becomes platinum-blond with pale pink tips, her eyes turn lime green; her skin loses its sparkle, and her clothes become more Wishworld-friendly: a pink long-sleeved dress with many layers of ruffles and a pair of pink laced-up shoes.

Personality[]

Cassie is a loyal, caring friend and very generous. She is smart and always has her nose in a book. Cassie is also very imaginative and artistic. Because she was often left alone at her uncle's manor, she found comfort in charting constellations and reading books.

Since she lost her parents, Cassie has been closed-off and bottles up her true feelings. She is afraid that if she gets close to someone, they will leave just like her parents did. While she is very faithful at times, she can often become moody and distrustful.

Cassie's Room[]

Cassie room

One look at Cassie's space and you can tell what she loves to do: read! Shelves of holo-books ring Cassie's cozy room. Her bed is placed above it all at the top of a glowing curved stairway.

Cassie programs her holo-wall to wrap her in images of Starland's flora and fauna. It helps her feel connected. But her absolute favorite feature is her curl-up personal reading nook, tucked next to the massive picture window. With its huge assortment of pillows, it's the perfect place to read her mysteries and keep her eyes on the stars. Her roommate is Sage, with whom, she bonds a lot.

Powers and Abilities[]

Starling Physiology[]

Being a Starling, Cassie possesses all of the natural traits that the species has.

  • Wish Energy Manipulation - Cassie harnesses positive wish energy for most of her abilities.
  • Energy Blasts - As displayed in The Power of Twelve, wish energy can be used to fire streams, bursts, orbs, and waves of offensive power against opponents.
  • Force Fields - Demonstrated in the above special, Cassie can conjure shields as defense.
  • Extended Lifespan - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it’s confirmed that Starlings can live for thousands of years, as Mira’s grandmother is over thousands of years old. Before that, in Leona's Unlucky Mission it was hinted that a few decades wasn’t too long in comparison to Starling lifespans. However, they do not have eternal youth, as Professor Elara Ursa is stated to be among one of the oldest wish granters and has clearly aged in a similar manner to a wishling elder.
  • Disease Immunity - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it states that the wish energy surrounding Starlings keeps them from contracting illnesses.
  • Superhuman Knowledge - In Leona's Unlucky Mission, Starlings are shown to be nigh-perfect at mathematics from birth. Astra's Mixed-Up Mission also implies that Starlings are the same way towards towards literature and similar subjects such as language and grammar.
  • Invisibility - She mentioned her power when explaining that she found her Starzap in Lady Stella's office to her friends in The Power of Twelve
  • Teleportation - In The Power of Twelve, she is shown to be teleporting when defeating Rancora.

Wish Mission Signature Powers[]

The Star Darlings each gain a power that is meant to assist with carrying out their wish missions. It is unknown if this is exclusive to them, or if they only work on Wishworld, as Adora uses hers to heal Vega in the The Power of Twelve.

  • Volume Changing - In Cassie Comes Through, Cassie uses this power to increase her Wisher's voice so it can be loud enough for her teacher to hear her.

Trivia[]

  • Cassie is based on the 4th zodiac sign, Cancer.
    • Astrologically, her opposite is Clover who represents Capricorn.
  • She is a member of Starling Academy's Holo-book club.
  • In Sage and the Journey to Wishworld, it is shown that Cassie and Sage are roommates, which is the reason why Cassie is often seen with Sage in the animated series.
