Astra’s Wish Mission is the eighth of twelve wish missions to take place in the Star Darlings book series. Astra's mission takes place in the eighth book, Astra's Mixed-Up Mission.

Selection of the Wish granter[]
When Astra and Piper started to walk to the bus stop, their Star-zaps started to beep about a newly discovered wish orb. They both rushed to the bus stop in a fit of panic, but due to their tardiness, they were both left behind. The bus miraculously started to halt once again, and the two hopped on to return to Starling Academy.
Once the two had arrived at Lady Stella's office, Lady Stella had set a tray with five golden cups on it. When Astra's turn came, she lifted a cup Tessa had already glanced at, causing Leona to yell. She was mistaken, though, as Astra lifted the cup to unveil the wish orb, which resembled a little star ball.
Prepping and journey[]
The Wishworld Outfit Selector was explained to Astra by Lady Stella after the other Star Darlings had praised her and left. Astra also received an update on her Star-zap and instructions from Lady Stella on how to travel to Wishworld on a shooting star. When Astra arrived in her dorm room, she and Clover went through the new Star-zap applications she would require for her wish mission.
Astra and the other Star Darlings said their goodbyes the next morning while waiting for a shooting star. Astra was given a crimson bag with a star on it by Lady Cordial, and Lady Stella gave Astra one more bit of advice just before she ascended onto the shooting star.

Searching for the wisher[]
Astra folded the star away after landing among some trees on Wishworld and focused her star-zap in the direction of Pine Brook School. However, Astra became preoccupied with her surroundings, and after watching a soccer match, she became aware that she had wasted more than an hour on her wish assignment. She unexpectedly teleports to the front of Clarkston Mills School when she wishes to be at her wisher's school, revealing her magical ability.
As Astra continued to follow her star-zap to the school's field, she was delighted to see so many pupils participating in different sports. Astra kept searching through the crowd for her wisher, but she was unsuccessful. After a short while, the bell rang to announce lunchtime, and Astra made her way to the queue to join her classmates inside. During lunch, Astra brought up basketball to learn their perspectives on the sport. When the bell for the class rang, Astra was relieved, but she quickly grew frustrated because the lessons seemed to drag on forever.
During English class, two announcements were played over the loudspeaker. The speaker discussed a gymnastics competition that will take place the following Friday after school in the gym and an art exhibit that will be taking place in the lunchroom on Saturday at 11:00. When Astra's class arrived at Science, she was unsure on what to do. Since Emma's partner wasn't there, Astra was paired with her. They both realized that Astra's bracelets were glowing as soon as they exchanged names, indicating that Emma was her wisher.
Guessing Emma's wish[]
As Astra sat next to Emma, the teacher explained to the class that they would be learning how to make catapults. While Astra tries to engage Emma in conversation, Emma is more focused on her work, which Astra both admires and despises. The teacher explains more instructions, giving Astra the idea to delay the project's completion so that she and Emma can finish it after school instead. When the bell rang, Astra and Emma were nowhere near finished.
After class, Emma groans about having a lot to do, making Astra believe her wish is to have a more peaceful life. Emma denies the wish, to which Astra asks if she can tag along with Emma after school. Emma explains that she has gymnastics practice after school and requests to go to Astra's instead. They part ways, with Astra promising to meet at Emma's house later. Astra teleports to the nearby town and pops into each of the stores, trying out all the equipment in the sporting goods store. When it's time to meet Emma, Astra uses her Star-zap as a map, and she soon arrives at a cosy home.
As Emma let Astra in, she was intrigued by the framed photos of girls with medals and trophies and stopped to take a look. Later, the two head to Emma's bedroom and start working on finishing their homework. During this, Astra finds a bottle of nail polish remover which she asks if she can keep it. After they finished writing down their observations, Astra and Emma headed straight onto their math homework. As soon as they are finished, Astra attempts to question Emma about her wish but is interrupted by Emma's mother summoning them to help with dinner.
As Emma's mother pulls a bubbly dish from the oven, Emma's father and sister arrive home. Emma tries to say something to her father but is cut off as he makes his way to his room to change.
Wishworld Observations[]
- Wishlings have funny names for their games. There is no basket in basketball!
- The fluffy white flowers Wishers wish on are called Dandy Lions.
- Add an "Identifying Wishworld Food" tutorial to avoid awkward situations like this!
- Some Wishlings slap hands and other Wishlings shake them.
