Astra is one of the twelve main characters in the Star Darlings animated and book series. She is the main point of view for the eighth Star Darlings book Astra's Mixed-Up Mission. She first appears in the episode Star Charmed and is voiced by Jennifer Hale. Astra's roommate at Starling Academy is Clover and her first Wisher on Wishworld is Emma.

History[]
Astra reaches for the stars in everything she does. Growing up, Astra earned a galaxy's worth of star trophies for athletics. Astra has mastered every sport, from energy volley to star bases to star ball! The star ball team at Starling Academy made Astra want to apply to the school. Now she's the team's most stellar player!
But coming to Starling Academy, where everyone wants to be the best, presented Astra with new challenges. She learned that she had to bring a sizzling new level of energy to her athletics and her studies if she was going to stay on top.
Appearance[]
Astra has bright red hair tied up in a braided crown ponytail and matching red eyes. Like all Starlings, she has slightly sparkly skin with a light complexion. Her clothes consist of a red sports dress with a golden star outline in the centre, a red collared jacket on top, knee-length white socks with a single red stripe and red sports to complete her look. Her Wish Pendant is a pair of practical wristbands with one large star, set in a pulsing ring of golden wish energy, adorning each. On Wishworld, the glowing wristbands help Astra confirm she has found her Wisher.
On Wishworld, Astra's bright red hair becomes more subdued, turning a light shade of copper and her eyes go from red to green. Her skin loses its sparkle, and her clothes become more Wishworld-friendly―a white singlet with a design in the middle, a short-sleeved red hoodie, pink sweatpants and red sports shoes. Her accessories include her wristbands and a red backpack with a star keychain.
Personality[]
Astra reaches for the stars in everything she does. She is strong and unstoppable. Astra has mastered every sport, from energy volley to star bases to star ball! She even loves to play sports in the pouring rain! The star ball team at Starling Academy made Astra want to apply to the school. Now she's the team's most stellar player!
All this focus on winning has its downside. Astra may be confident with her physical strengths but shies away from her emotions. She can be brash and act like she's the centre of the universe, which pushes friends out of her orbit. She is sometimes cocky and condescending and can be a sore loser.
Astra's Room[]

Astra's room is perfect for an athlete, especially a brilliant star ball player. With a built-in court and holo-net, she can practice shooting anytime she wishes. Even cooler than that, the main wall in her room allows her to feel like she's inside a full-sized star ball court, or even a star bases stadium! There's a special area to store and display all her athletic equipment and her many impressive holo-trophies. When she needs to relax after a game, she's got a sunken circular couch where she can stretch out and recharge.

Starling Physiology[]
Being a Starling, Astra possesses all of the natural traits that the species has.
- Wish Energy Manipulation - Astra harnesses positive wish energy for most of her abilities.
- Energy Blasts - As displayed in The Power of Twelve, wish energy can be used to fire streams, bursts, orbs, and waves of offensive power against opponents.
- Force Fields - Demonstrated in the above special, Astra can conjure shields as defense.
- Extended Lifespan - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it’s confirmed that Starlings can live for thousands of years, as Mira’s grandmother is over thousands of years old. Before that, in Leona's Unlucky Mission it was hinted that a few decades wasn’t too long in comparison to Starling lifespans. However, they do not have eternal youth, as Professor Elara Ursa is stated to be among one of the oldest wish granters and has clearly aged in a similar manner to a wishling elder.
- Disease Immunity - In Scarlet Discovers True Strength, it states that the wish energy surrounding Starlings keeps them from contracting illnesses.
- Superhuman Knowledge - In Leona's Unlucky Mission, Starlings are shown to be nigh-perfect at mathematics from birth. Astra's Mixed-Up Mission also implies that Starlings are the same way towards towards literature and similar subjects such as language and grammar.
- Super Speed - Astra runs so fast she is able to channel wish energy to achieve high speeds.
Wish Mission Signature Powers[]
The Star Darlings each gain a power that is meant to assist with carrying out their wish missions. It is unknown if this is exclusive to them, or if they only work on Wishworld, as Adora uses hers to heal Vega in the The Power of Twelve.
- Teleportation - In Astra's Mixed-Up Mission, Astra herself discovers that her special talent is instantly teleporting when she wishes to be in front of her Wisher's school.
Trivia[]
- Astra is named and based after the first zodiac sign, Aries.
- This makes Libby, who's based after Libra her opposite astrologically.
- Astra is the only Star Darling who does not have a streak of her original hair color for her Wishworld appearance. Instead, her hair turned a darker shade of red.
- Astra original name was Arly.
